Barcelona presents the 40th edition of the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy


The city of Barcelona will once again be the centre of the international sailing world with the forthcoming 40th edition of the Conde de Godo Sailing Trophy

Nearly 70 boats in 5 categories, will compete in this special edition of the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy from 22nd to 26th May; reconfirming the event as one of the most historical trophies in Spain

•         The city of Barcelona will once again be the centre of the international sailing world with the forthcoming 40th edition of the Conde de Godo Sailing Trophy organized by Barcelona’s Real Club Naútico from 22nd to 26th May.

•         The special 40th anniversary edition of the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy was presented by the Honourable Mr Xavier Trias, Mayor of Barcelona, President of the Real Club Naútico in Barcelona, Mr Enrique Corominas and Organizer of the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, Mr Joaquín Barenys, at the Saló Ciutat in Barcelona’s Town Hall. 

40th anniversary recognition

The Conde de Godó sailing regatta, now into its 40th year, is referential both on a national and international level, and has become one of the most long-standing sailing trophies; a fact highlighted by the organizers during the presentation. 

The Mayor of Barcelona, Mr Xavier Trias, had words of praise and admiration for the trophy that will turn 40 this year,“The Conde de Godó Trophy is celebrating its 40th edition, and that doesn’t happen overnight. It is a great pleasure to present another edition of the regatta, and this year’s edition is the proof and result of a truly great sporting event that puts Barcelona city’s name on the world map.”

The rapport between the Real Club Naútico and Barcelona city was evident in the words of RCNB President Mr. Enrique Corominas, who confirmed the words of the Mayor, “There is a very good rapport between the RCNB and the city, and the Conde de Godó Trophy is very much linked to the city of Barcelona. This year will see one of the most international editions of the Conde de Godó Trophy ever”.

Over the last forty years the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy has adapted to new demands both in the competition and the sport, and has always been a national and international reference. The 40th edition continues in excellent health with nearly 70 boats signed up in the 5 competition categories that welcome both professional and amateur sailors: Wally, ORC, TP52, Soto40 and J-80. A wide range of sailing classes that guarantees excellent top-level competition. 

Pepe Ribes: support for the Conde de Godo Trophy  

International sailor Pepe Ribes; one of the major names in sailing and round the world racing, has expressed his support for Barcelona Town Hall in this special 40th edition of the sporting trophy, “Reaching a 40th anniversary in such good shape is really impressive; a real achievement, and I think thanks should go to the magnificent management of Barcelona’s Real Club Naútico and their support for sailing over the years, as well as the institutions that have continued to back the event for so long.”

“I don’t even remember the number of times I have taken part in this regatta but there were many. I hope that the Conde de Godó Trophy can go on to celebrate another 40 years and in the meantime that the boat I’m sailing with this year will win,” added RCNB sailor Pepe Ribes. 

Pepe Ribes was declared Ambassador for the Conde de Godó Trophy by the event organizer Mr. Joaquín Barenys, “It is a real honour to have Pepe Ribes as Ambassador for the Conde de Godo Trophy. Pepe clearly represents the true national and international nature of this sporting event.”

A date in Barcelona for the best boats on the sailing scene

The Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy will host a wide range of categories and welcome some of the best national and international professional sailors.

Two race courses will enable optimum competitive conditions both for the boats and for the professional and amateur sailors who will compete for the honour to see their names engraved on the prestigious Conde de Godo Trophy.

46 Conde de Godó Trophy, underway


The 46th edition of the prestigious Conde de Godó Trophy, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona since 1974, will be held in Barcelona from 23 to 26 May, with the inclusion of interesting newsness.

Rats on Fire crowned champion of the Conde de Godó Trophy for the sixth consecutive year


The 45th Conde de Godó Trophy has closed today in the waters of Barcelona, ​​in one of the most competitive and exciting editions of recent times, with the participation of 51 boats and 500 sailors from eight countries. Organized since 1974 by the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona with the support of the Godó family, what is one of the most important regattas in the Mediterranean has crowned as champion for the ninth time and sixth consecutive year Rats on Fire by Rafael Carbonell, in ORC 0-1. The winners in the other categories are also repeaters: L'Immens-Laplaza Assessors (ORC 2) gets its third victory, the same as the Vertigo Dos (ORC 3-4), while the Bribón-Movistar (J80) achieves its fourth triumph in monotypes.

East medium winds are forecasted for the last day of racing at the 45th Conde de Godó Trophy. The Race Committee will try to complete two races for the three ORC groups and three for the J80s. In total, from Friday to Sunday seven races were planned for the big boats and ten for the one-design units.
