Fierce fight for the 44th Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy
Rats on Fire will fight tomorrow for their eighth Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy and the fifth in a row in ORC 0-1, but the Portuguese Fifty by Storax and the Balearic Maserati will try to stop their dominance. In the J80 class, Bribón-Movistar is leading after winning another race. In ORC 2, L'Immens is almost mathematical winner, while in ORC 3-4 Fanytas is close to its second consecutive victory.
The clouds of Barcelona's sky today have caused some headaches in the fleet of 47 boats from eight countries taking part in the 44th Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy. Two race have been completed, the third cancelled because of the changing wind.
In J80, Bribón-Movistar of Marc de Antonio and Sofia Bertrand is today more leader than yesterday, after signing in the races of the day a third and a first, his fourth partial victory already in the championship. The Catalan boat is now ahead in eight points to his immediate pursuer, who is Pelayo Abogados Marbella Team, defender of the title.
In ORC 0-1, the Swan 45 Rats on Fire of Rafael Carbonell maintains the lead, although they have done two thirds today. Yesterday it was tied with the DK46 R-Motion of Jaime Monjo, but today this competitive team has fallen to the fourth place. In contrast, the best has been the Portuguese team Fifty by Storax, who under the command of Rui Ramada has scored a first and a second. The Synergy 40 L'Immens of Alexandre Laplaza, with Carles Rodríguez as skipper, is the absolute dominator in ORC 2. Today they have won both race, two more after those from yesterday. The same in ORC 3-4, the Dufour 34 Fanytas also has a full four first.
The last day of competition of the 44 Conde de Godó Trophy will be held tomorrow, with the first start scheduled for 12 pm. The champions will be honored at the awards ceremony, scheduled for 5 pm.
The 44th Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona with the collaboration of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the Catalan Sailing Federation. The Trophy has the support of La Vanguardia, the City Council of Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya. As well, the partners of the event are Gramona, Estrella Damm, Nº 3, Royal Bliss, Survitec Group, VIP Style Magazine, Veri, King's Ginger and Gill.
