HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR THE ORC FLEET IN THE 41st CONDE DE GODÓ–MERCHBANC

15-05-2014

The Barcelona event par excellence gets red hot

The Barcelona event, organized by the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona, will be the starting point for the ORC entries to measure their forces. They are in not only to win the Cup which has engraved the names of the winners of the Conde de Godó Trophy, but also to face their rivals in the ORC World championship which will be held in Barcelona in late June and first half of July 2015.

The Conde de Godó-Merchbanc Trophy will be an excellent opportunity to also get to know the race course of Barcelona and its winds since the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona will also be the organizers of the ORC World Championship in 2015.

INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL ATMOSPHERE

Several international teams have already confirmed their participation in the 41st edition of the event: "Three Sisters" from the Czech Republic, French "Sea Lance", German "Alegre", Swiss "Kajsa" or Russian "Anna".

With more than 30 pre-registered entries, most of the stars of last year's Godó Trophy are coming back to race. This is the case of the ORC 1 winner Rafael Carbonell’s "Rats on Fire" or Miquel Banús’ "Fanytas", winner in ORC 3 who also return to the starting with the goal of winning the Trophy again.

Amongst the favorites there is Jose Luis Maldonado’s "Fyord Valencia Luxury" who had a great start of the season.

AMBITIOUS PROGRAMME

The ORC class will begin the Conde de Godó-Merchbanc Trophy on Thursday May 23nd at 16h00. The sailing instructions have scheduled a total of 7 windward-leeward races to be sailed until Sunday the 25th -one race discarded with 5races sailed-.
