Official presentation of the 44 Conde de Godó Trophy


The 44 Conde de Godó Trophy has been presented today at Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, with the support of Catalonia government, Barcelona City Council and the Godó family which gives the name to one of the oldest trophies in the sailing calendar in Spain. The regatta will take place in Barcelona from June 1st to the 4th, organized by Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. Between 50 and 60 teams in the ORC and the J80 classes will compete in this prestigious competition.

The presentation has been attended by the director of the Consell Català de l'Esport de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Toni Reig; the Commissioner of Sports of the Ajuntament de Barcelona, ​​David Escudé; Joaquim Barenys, from the Catalan Sailing Federation, and Ana Godó, representing the Grupo Godó, in addition to the RCNB president and vice-commodore, Fèlix Escalas and Damián Ribas, respectively.

Escalas celebrated that the great regatta of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona has already reached the 44th edition and stressed that it is “a great pride for the club and the city to organize a sporting event of this category”, after thanking the collaboration of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ajuntament de Barcelona, ​​and especially the Godó family, since the Trofeo was born in 1974 on the initiative of Carlos Godó, second Conde de Godó, then president of RCNB.

David Escudé emphasized in the idea that it is the oldest trophy in the cruising sailing calendar in Spain: "It’s the 44th edition and that means that much work has been done and confirms that Barcelona is an international capital in the organization of sporting events, thanks to visionaries who took the initiative and to clubs that have continued to work for the promotion of sport."

As explained by Damián Ribas, RCNB's vice-commodore, between 50 and 60 boats in the ORC and J80 classes are expected at this regatta, which is, along with the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona -which takes place this year from July 12th to 15th and celebrates its tenth anniversary-, one of the two major international competitions of the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona.

Today 37 teams have formalized their registration in the ORC class and 8 in J80. Among them, three winners from last year: Rafael Carbonell's Rats on Fire (ORC 0-1) (who will fight for his eighth Godó and the fifth in a row), Fanytas owned by Miquel Banús (ORC 3-4 ) and Ramón Pelayo Abogados Marbella Team owned by Pepequin Orbaneja (J80). Eight countries are represented: besides Spain, there are boats from Greece, Portugal, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and France.

Thursday June 1st will be the day dedicated to the official registrations and measurements. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be the three days of racing in the waters of Barcelona. There are 8 races scheduled for the ORC class and 9 for the J80 one design. The prize giving ceremony will be held on Sunday at the Race Village.

Organized by Real Club Náutico de Barcelona with the collaboration of the Spanish and the Catalan sailing federations, the 44 Conde de Godó Trophy is supported by La Vanguardia, Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia. The Mediterranean Sailing Circuit presents its second edition


After the success of participants in the year of its premiere, the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit celebrates its second edition with three of the most outstanding regattas on the national scene: the Sail Racing PalmaVela (May 7-10), the Caixabank Conde de Godó Trophy (May 28 - 31) and the SM La Reina Trophy (July 2-5). Bribón and Rats on Fire renew their reign in the CaixaBank Conde de Godó Trophy


Sixteenth Conde de Godó for Bribón and tenth for Rats on Fire. The two Catalan teams are the undisputed kings of the prestigious regatta organized by the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona since 1974. On the decisive day of the 46th CaixaBank Conde de Godó Trophy, the Bribón-Movistar of Marc de Antonio and Sofia Bertrand has shone with its own light in J80 to remain as the most successful team in the history of the event, while in ORC 0 -1 Rats on Fire of Rafael Carbonell has left no option for surprises.
