The Conde de Godó Trophy will gather more than 50 boats and 500 sailors on its 45th anniversary

The 45th edition of the Conde de Godó Trophy, one of the most important nautical competitions in the Mediterranean, will be held from 24 to 27 May in the waters of Barcelona. Fifteen days before the start of this prestigious sporting event that consolidates Barcelona as a great reference in the organization of regattas at international level, the competition was presented this afternoon at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, ​​organizer of the event with the support of the family Godó since 1974.

More than 50 boats and 500 sailors will meet at the 45th Conde de Godó Trophy. The presentation was chaired by the president and the commodore of RCNB, Félix Escalas and Marc de Antonio, respectively; the sports commissioner of the City Council of Barcelona, ​​Marta Carranza; the director of the Consell Català de l'Esport of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Toni Reig; Jordi Parés, from the Catalan sailing federation, and Ana Godó, representing the Godó Group.

"We are very happy to celebrate the 45th edition of a regatta that stands out for its quality and the competitive level of the fleet," said the president of the RCNB, who thanked the support of the collaborating institutions and companies, and especially the Godó family.

The director of the Consell Català de l'Esport of the Generalitat congratulated the regatta for the 45 years, "for the number of years and also for the quality with which all the editions have been developed, for the brilliant organizational level and for the international prestige that the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona has been consolidating year after year", in his own words.

"45 years old, and this means that the Conde de Godó Trophy is organized with rigor, knowledge and know-how -said Marta Carranza-. From the City Council of Barcelona we promote sporting events that project the city to the world".

The four winners of last year, Rats on Fire (which accumulates eight victories, five of them consecutive) in ORC 0-1, L'Immens in ORC 2, Fanytas in ORC 3-4 and Bribón-Movistar in J80, have confirmed their participation in the 45th anniversary regatta. Other units already registered that will be expected in the fight for the podium are Adrián Hoteles of Tenerife, Vell Marí V from Mallorca and the Swiss Kajsa III, among others.

This year the prestigious Conde de Godó Trophy will have a second event, to commemorate the 45th anniversary: the 45th Anniversary Special Godó Trophy, a new regatta from Barcelona to Saint-Tropez. Departing on June 7, it is a 230-nautical-mile (426-kilometer) race designed for the fleet that wants to sail to Saint-Tropez to participate in the famous Rolex Giraglia. From five to ten boats are expected to take part in the 45th Anniversary Special Godó Trophy.

Three days of races are scheduled for the 45th Conde de Godó Trophy. Thursday 24 is the day reserved for registration of participants. The races will run from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 May, with a total of seven races scheduled for the ORC and ten for the J80.

Organized by the Real Club Nautico de Barcelona with the collaboration of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the Catalan Sailing Federation, the 45th Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy has the support of La Vanguardia, the City Council of Barcelona and the Government of Catalunya. The collaborators are Gramona, Estrella Damm, Nº3, Royal Bliss, VIP Style Magazine and Veri.

Out of the almost 50 boats from eight different countries that will gather from tomorrow in the waters of Barcelona to compete in the 44th Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, one of them stands out in its own right. It accumulates up to seven championship titles in the prestigious regatta of the Real Club Náutico of Barcelona, and ​​the last four consecutively. It is no other than Rafael Carbonell’s Rats on Fire, lead by Rayco Tabares and Noluco Doreste, and that tomorrow will cross the starting line of the first regatta willing to keep the crown.
