About 20 ORC Double Handed boats will participate, opening the Conde de Godó BMW Trophy for the third consecutive edition with a coastal course starting at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 30. The second race will be held on Saturday, June 1.
The Organizing Committee has planned nine possible courses, both north and south, to be chosen based on weather conditions each day, ranging from the longest course of 179 nautical miles from Barcelona to the Gulf of Roses passing through the Begur Odas and back to Barcelona; to the shortest course of 66 miles from Barcelona, buoy at El Masnou, down to Vilanova i la Geltrú and ending in Barcelona.
Additionally, there are other intermediate courses ranging from 70 to 162 nautical miles.
Powerful ORC Fleet
The ORC class will be divided into four categories: ORC 0-1, ORC 2, ORC 3, ORC 4-5, although the groups will be determined on Thursday, May 31, when final registrations are confirmed.
Their race program will follow the traditional format of the Conde de Godó BMW Trophy, with three days of competition starting on Friday, May 31 at 2:30 PM and on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM, with a maximum of 7 races in total, distributed over the three days, and with a discard starting from the fourth race. The J70s will sail in the Bravo course, the closest to the harbor entrance, with windward-leeward courses. They will sail a total of 10 races with a maximum of four per day. A discard will come into play starting from the sixth race.
The J70 class will be divided into two categories: J70 and J70 Women. Although they will sail together, the female crews will have their own ranking, in addition to competing for the overall title.
